about this website

In 2002, Leisz family members from across the nation and beyond gathered in
Turtle Lake, Wisconsin—where their ancestors settled upon immigrating to America
from Europe in 1893. Perhaps you were at this very special reunion.

Since 2002, reunion organizers have been seeking a way to share
Leisz family information with members far and wide. We felt that an Internet website
could be a viabe way to reach one another, and to keep our family history alive.

What are your thoughts? Let us know. We want to hear from you.

Things to do in and around Turtle Lake, Wisconsin

The House on the Rock in New Glarus is interesting. So is the Duluth/Superior area. Turtle Lake is only a short distance from the Mall of America, and while it is not in Wisconsin, it is a fun place to go.

DRIVING FROM THE EAST OR SOUTH? Check out the Wisconsin Dells, "The Waterpark Capital of the World" for kid-friendly fun galore!

Hayward is a neat little town. There's lots of shops, including antique shops, a casino, and along the way, you could rent canoes or tubes and float the Namekogan River or go horseback riding.

Menomonie has some rather neat historical buildings, such as the Mabel Tainter Theater, the Wilson House and the Louis Smith Tainter House (owned by the University of Wisconsin-Stout). Menomonie also has a neat bike trail where you can rent bikes.

St. Croix Falls is very neat for someone who likes to rock climb and take in the natural beauty of the area.

Cameron has a Barron County Historical Museum that is interesting. The museum is set up like a small village that contains an old schoolhouse, dental office, post office, typical home of that ear, an actual church where they still have wedding ceremonies, and many other buildings and things to see that are too numerous to mention. There's probably lots of things there now that belonged to our ancestors at one time.
