2023 LEISZ FAMILY REUNION IN TURTLE LAKE, WISCONSIN—A BIG SUCCESS!
Roberta Meyer Lombardino, granddaughter of Leisz Brother Leopold, has conducted genealogy research on our family for about two decades. Here's what she's found about Leo, our ancestor who died in the fire in Peregu Mare:
Leo was one of two children. His parents came from Marne, Austria.
Leo's brother was named Anton.
Anton married and had two girls One girl married and had two girls.
The other girl married and had seven boys.
More from Roberta Lombardino from her trip to Peregu Mare in 2001:
"I had three of the documents given to me by Hermine professionally translated. These documents were birth and baptismal records of John, Leopold and Mary Leisz.
They were very informative because they told of the town where my great-grandparents came from before the immigrated to Peregu Mare. That town's name at the time was Schonau, and with further research,
I discovered it now is in the Czech Republic about 30 miles north of Vienna.
I have located a professional genealogist and plan to email this person to see if she can do some research in this town and learn more about the early days of the Leisz family.
Then Joe (Roberta's husband) and I may visit the town using this person as a guide and making our base in Vienna. We may also take the train to Arad, Romania and visit Peregu Mare again. I'd like to see how far back I can trace the Leisz family and determine if there is a link between our family adn the other Leisz members in this country. That will be a genealogical project for the future."
